Julian Kanz, Storyteller
Italy Wedding Photographer in Liguria, Tuscany and Italian Lakes
Born in Germany, I discovered my love for capturing moments at an early age. When I was 16, my first pictures were published in a Belgian newspaper, at the age of 18 I met Angela Merkel in her office in Bonn to photograph her for an interview. I worked as a photojournalist in Germany and I had the honour to photograph a lot of politicians and personalities, such as Bill Clinton, Bono (U2), Helmut Kohl, Massimo d’Alema, and many more.
Later, I moved to Berlin where I helped organise the “Bundespresseball” (it’s considered the most important social event of the year).
Then I met my wife Linda and moved to Italy. One day, a friend of ours asked me to document his brother’s wedding and that’s where everything started. When I delivered the photographs and saw the couple’s emotions, I realised that these pictures for them were so much more than “just some nice pictures”.
At the time it was about the PHOTO – today it’s about the STORY
As a photojournalist, it was about the single shot – as a wedding photographer, it’s about the story. The story of an extraordinary and unique day. With all these details, emotions, candid shots and amazing portraits. How often does it happen in life to invite friends and families, take them to a beautiful place and celebrate a big party all together?
Linda and I are still living happily in the small town by the sea, less than two kilometres from the pub where we first met. We have two wonderful daughters, Emma and Lena, and life has been very good to me.
As a wedding photographer in Italy, my photos have been published in numerous national and international blogs, newspapers and magazines and many of my photos have received international awards. German television ZDF came to Italy to shoot a documentary about me, but the biggest award is my numerous and consistently positive reviews from my clients over the past 13 years.
